What We Are Looking For

We're looking for a Cloud Engineer focused on Kubernetes to join our cloud development team. Your primary role will be to design, build, and optimize applications and infrastructure using Kubernetes and related technologies to enable scalable, resilient, and efficient deployments. You take ownership of your work, are a great communicator, and thrive in environments with changing requirements.

Our team includes network architects, cloud architects, software developers, and security engineers. You will have the chance to gain significant real-world experience and work on high-impact projects. We also provide many opportunities for growth and will cover costs of relevant education and certification.

Due to regulatory requirements, only candidates located in the US will be considered for this position. This is a fully remote role.

 

What You'll Do

  • Architect Solutions: Design and implement robust Kubernetes-based solutions on various cloud platforms.
  • Build CI/CD Pipelines: Create and manage CI/CD pipelines for containerized applications.
  • Automate Deployments: Streamline and automate deployments using a variety of Kubernetes tools and technologies.
  • Optimize Resources: Manage and fine-tune resource allocation and costs for Kubernetes workloads.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with development teams to ensure smooth application deployments.
  • Implement Security: Apply security, governance, and compliance controls in Kubernetes environments.
  • Leverage Containerization: Utilize containerization tools for building and managing containerized applications.

 

Relevant Skills:

 

Kubernetes Core:

  • Deep understanding of Kubernetes architecture (Pods, Services, Deployments, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes cluster management and operations
  • Knowledge of networking and service discovery in Kubernetes
  • Proficiency with service mesh technologies like Istio and Linkerd

 

Container Technologies:

  • Proficiency with Docker and container runtime interfaces (CRI)
  • Experience with container image management and registries

 

Cloud Platforms:

  • Expertise with managed Kubernetes services like EKS, GKE, and AKS
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure provisioning and management using tools like Terraform and CloudFormation
  • Advanced cloud integration with AWS Controller for Kubernetes (ACK) and Crossplane

 

Continuous Integration and Deployment:

  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, etc.)
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)
  • Understanding of containerized application deployment strategies

 

Monitoring and Observability:

  • Proficiency with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)
  • Experience with logging and tracing (Fluentd, Elasticsearch, Jaeger, etc.)

 

Security and Governance:

  • Knowledge of Kubernetes security best practices (RBAC, Network Policies, etc.)
  • Experience with secrets management and encryption
  • Understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements

We don't expect candidates to be familiar with all relevant skills but do expect them to have comprehensive experience in the domains in question and eagerness to learn.
